The price of eggs did not stop vandals from attacking the office of MP Michael McCormack over the long weekend, in spite of the MP calling for a respectful election campaign.
Staff coming to work on Easter Monday discovered egg smeared over two windows of Mr McCormack’s Fitzmaurice Street office and eggshells on the paving below.
The attack occurred sometime since last Good Friday night.
“It’s a senseless and unnecessary attack,” Mr McCormack said.
“The attack has been reported to police and I will be providing them with closed circuit television footage.

“Whoever has done this should hang their head in shame.
“This is not the Australian way but, unfortunately, this sort of behaviour is becoming more common place today.
“I repeat my call for a respectful election campaign." said Mr McCormack, expressing concern for his staff.
“If you have a beef with me, have the courage to talk to me about it, don’t skulk around and vandalise the workplace of my staff and where people come every day asking for assistance with Federal Government matters.”
The incident follows other vandalism attacks on officials and their offices across the year, including a threat being made to opposition leader Peter Dutton, and a confrontation to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese during the election campaign.
